Ludwig Dill, Coral Fishers

Coral Fishers – Dill, Ludwig (Gernsbach, Baden, 1848 – Karlsruhe 1940). Coral Fishers. In front in a boat the fishermen hauling in the heavy net, behind sailboat whose crew just strikes the sail and stands at the capstan. Toned wood engraving by Goebel for Adolf Cloß, Stuttgart (“at his time one of the best of his profession in Germany”, Thieme-Becker). (1876.) Inscribed: Dill Napoli (18)74 / A. Closz Goebel, typographically in German as above. 10⅛ × 7½ in (25.8 × 18.9 cm).
