Singleton, Industry and Oecononmy

Charming  genre  of  best  English  tradition

representing the elements of success of a merchant and explaining these in 8 lines of verse under the picture :

“ These are the cares that give a zest to life / Source of no social, no domestic trife; Hence health and competence, – the virgorous mind / To frankness and to probity inclin’d. The fair perspective opening on the view / An offspring dutious and a consort true / A long career of honor clos’d with ease / Who would not purchase by such cares as these. ”

Three sides trimmed in the wide blank inside of the platemark. Here as also inside the lower text and on the back many smaller fox-spots and -stipples without to touch the picture itself. A few repaired small marginal tears. In the upper part a tiny hole. Apart from that in best condition and most finely coloured.

As  a  merchant  representation  additionally  very  rare .
