Coastal Protection. Plank walls, wood barriers and stones for the protection of the property situated at the top of the dune. Wood engraving after Gustav Schoenleber (Bietigheim 1851 – Karlsruhe 1917) for A. Cloß, Stuttgart. (1880/81.) Inscribed: GS (ligated), otherwise as above. 4⅝ × 6½ in (11.7 × 16.6 cm).
VERSO: After the (NE) Storm-flood (of Nov. 11-13, 1872). The family hit at the Pomeranian coast of the Baltic Sea in the destroyed house whose wooden frame is very clearly visible. Wood engraving after Johannes Gehrts (St. Pauli/Hamburg 1855 – Dusseldorf 1921). Inscribed: Joh. Gehrts 81. / F. HAUG sc. / A. Cloß. X. I, otherwise as above. 4¾ × 5¾ in (12.1 × 14.5 cm). – Verso to both sides continuous local + thematic text.
