Frankfort/Main – Frankfort / Contest on the Main. Boat race before the Main quay up to the cathedral. Wood engraving after Gottfried Franz (Mayence 1846 – Munich 1905) for Adolf Closs, Stuttgart. (1875-76.) Inscribed: G. Franz., otherwise typographically in Dutch as above. 4⅛ × 7 in (10.5 × 17.8 cm).
BACK: Vignettes flowing into each other: Eschenheim Gate before Main scenery with Cathedral / Roemer / Luther’s House. Wood engravings as above, but after Richard Puettner (Wurzen 1842 – Munich 1913). Inscribed: R. Püttner. 3⅞-7¼ × 2½-7¼ in (9.7-18.4 × 6.5-18.5 cm). – Impression for the about contemporary Dutch edition. – Continuous local text on both sides.
